What’s with the obsession this girl has with radishes? Even though nature’s magenta is reason enough to make friends with this food, it was 1 calorie per radish that required me to make more effort to work it into my diet. Just check the nutritional info over to the left if you want more reasons to eat radishes. And when Michael Symon from Cooking Channel’s Cook Like an Iron Chef fashioned together this salad as an accompaniment to spicy chicken wings, I was all “I can cook like an iron chef too.”
Before I share his simple four-ingredient salad worth every refreshing bite, I need to share some things about Michael Symon.
He’s an affable guy, so why does he bug me something fierce? Maybe it’s that he acts like he’s read only the strengths part of audience research findings and I’m guessing by his show that the list of Michael Symon Audience Likes reads:
wrist flirting when zesting citrus
offal. t-shirt
fresno chilies
washing hands
‘cilaaantro” spoken in baritone Chicago accent
prison kitchen
hairlessness
slaving around his assistants
muscle flexing while stirring
effusive reaction to his own cooking
laughing at his own jokes
glass bowls
putting tasting spoon back in pot
duck fat
Oh my god, he’s me (including the baritone voice) without the t-shirt and with the hair…and by assistants I mean children. Let’s save that therapy session for another post. Until then, fall in love with radishes and celery with a little help from blue cheese.
